Michigan Minds Empowered is a resource hub for teens and young adults experiencing changes in thinking, emotions, and sensory perceptions such as hearing or seeing things that others don’t (also known as psychosis). Although these experiences can feel unusual, they’re not uncommon. And with the right kind of support, it gets better.
Michigan’s specialty care teams, called NAVIGATE and ACT Early, are available to support Michiganders ages 15-30, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.
We believe that every person facing a mental health challenge can access inner strength and wellbeing, so we created Michigan Minds Empowered to offer space where we could do just that – connect, learn and draw inspiration from one another.

KATIE: I finally moved out of the house to live in my own apartment. I had a full-time job. I was working as a custodian in the local school district. Then I lost my job and I had to move back in with my mom. I was in control for the first time in my life and then I lost it. And I didn’t know how to handle that. It led me to do things that I wouldn’t normally do and believe things that I wouldn’t normally believe because I didn’t have people to make sure that I was still connected. Having the team at navigate they are there to do that for me.
JACKIE: Every role I navigates team is there to support you. As a SEE Specialist I’m helping you to get back to your life, whether it be going back to school or getting a job, we come up with a plan together that works for you.
KATIE: The education and Employment Specialist will walk you through things step by step. They will help you with your homework. They’ll help you keep track of your credits if you’re aiming to graduate like I am. Looking into scholarships and grants and managing debt. They could even reach out on your behalf to a professor or an employer.
JACKIE: I can be as involved as you want me to be. Doing mock interviews, building your resume. Ultimately you decide your future and I’m there to help wherever you need it.
KATIE: I might not reach for that new job or education opportunity were it not for my SEE Specialist. Now I’m in a really great place. I am in school I work a couple of jobs. The navigate team will not let you be defeated. So many of the other relationships in my life I have to reach out to them but navigate reaches out to me.
