Family Of Boy Who Wowed Obama Opens Up About His Battle With Schizophrenia

The parents of Joey Hudy open up about their son’s diagnosis with schizophrenia and how they are trying to navigate the mental health care system in the United States. Joey became famous back in 2012 when he demonstrated his high-velocity marshmallow cannon for President Obama at a White House science fair. He went on to accomplish impressive feats including becoming one of the youngest interns to work for tech company Intel and speaking at a TED talk. He eventually took a job in China and moved away from his family. His parents describe his increasingly paranoid behavior and soon had him come home. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was ultimately able to get the care he needed to recover. Joey now teaches at Arizona State University.  Read More
